BIOGRAPHY

Chris Shropshire serves as the Special Assistant to the President at Paul Quinn College. Previously, Chris served as a Program Officer with the Rainwater Charitable Foundation, working with a portfolio that supports workforce development and economic mobility as well as k12 schools. Prior to joining Rainwater, Chris served as the founding Executive Director of Operations of the Leadership Academy Network at Texas Wesleyan University, a network of schools that serves 3,800 students in Fort Worth, Texas. Previously, Chris spent eight years as a charter school authorizer, overseeing more than 62 schools that serve 30,000 students across the state of Michigan. Additionally, Chris has served as a middle school administrator and higher education administrator. Chris serves on the following board(s) of directors: Empower Schools, Child Care Associates, Neighborhood PK, TCU College of Education Board of Visitors, and Big Thought. Chris also is an adjunct professor in the higher education department at TCU and is a research fellow with the University of Alabama Education Policy Center. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from The University of Michigan, an MBA from Northwood University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Alabama, where he published, “Getting from Here to There: HBCUs and Black College Student Success.” Most importantly, Chris is married to his best friend, Ana, and has two beautiful daughters, Cataleya and Zinnia.
