BIOGRAPHY
Drema Brown is the Head of School of Children?s Aid College Prep Charter School, a Children?s Aid community school she helped found in 2012 that serves over 600 K-8 students in the South Bronx. Prior to shifting her focus 100% to leading Children?s Aid College Prep, Drema served as the Vice President of the School Age Division at Children?s Aid. As VP of the School Age Division, Drema worked to ensure the success of the agency?s efforts to provide high-quality educational services, social and emotional learning experiences, health and wellness supports and family supports to children ages 5-13 in Children?s Aid?s community schools and community centers. Before joining the staff at Children?s Aid, Drema worked at New Leaders, an organization working to improve the quality of education in urban schools, where she led the design, development and delivery of a leadership curriculum for its NYC and national principal training programs. Drema has been a public school teacher, principal and instructional coach in both district and charter school settings but she began her career as a youth worker in an after school and summer program in New Haven, CT in 1992. She holds an Ed.M. from Harvard in Teaching and Curriculum, a B.A. from Yale in English and has plans to complete a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Leadership at the CUNY Graduate Center.
