Genevieve Cheng is the Senior Chief of Staff to the President at IDEA Public Schools, a high-achieving network of tuition-free K-12 public charter schools that has sent nearly 100% of its students to college for the past 10 years consecutively. She serves an IDEA Team and Family that includes over 11,000 staff and 85,000 students across 11 regions in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Ohio. Prior to joining IDEA Public Schools, Genevieve served as assistant principal of operations at KIPP Austin Beacon Prep Middle School. She honed her data chops and supported school system leaders in making transformative shifts in resources, structures, and practices as a 2013 Education Pioneers analyst fellow and associate consultant at Education Resource Strategies, a consulting firm in Watertown, Massachusetts. She began her career in education as a 2006 Teach For America corps member, where she taught ninth and tenth grade science in the northside of Houston. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis. Genevieve is originally from New York’s Chinatown. In her free time, she loves to travel, attend live shows, cheer on her favorite sports teams, create new cocktails, and try the newest restaurants in Austin, Texas, where she currently resides.
