BIOGRAPHY

Gregory McGinity is the chief civic affairs officer for the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) and the executive director for CCSA Advocates, which supports California nonprofit charter public school community. CCSA Advocates engages in efforts to provide education and resources to help more charter public schools increase civic participation on their campuses, including youth civic engagement. Previously, Gregory served as the executive director of The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, a national philanthropy, where he led the Foundation’s investments in education programs, policy, advocacy, and research aimed at improving public urban education. While at the Foundation, Gregory took a leave of absence to serve as chief of staff to the California Secretary of Education. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was the senior education policy consultant to the California State Board of Education and served on the legislative staffs of two Members of Congress. Gregory also served as a legislative liaison in the Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education. Gregory is a native of Los Angeles. He received his bachelor’s degree in history and political science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School, where he was a Sigoloff Fellow. Gregory served as a Fellow at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and was previously a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Education and the California State Library Board.
