BIOGRAPHY
Drawing from foundational values of justice and faith, Kenan has spent two decades collaborating with educators to create excellent learning opportunities for all students. His unique ability to synthesize challenging ideas into actionable strategies has helped teams achieve remarkable outcomes. As co-founder, partner, and K-12 lead at Rethinc, he guides education systems in developing healthy, high-performing teams and inclusive cultures that drive meaningful change.
Earlier in his career, while serving as a district Chief Achievement Officer in Ohio, he worked alongside dedicated colleagues to reimagine public education, resulting in dramatic improvements in academic performance and achievement gaps within a single year. Prior to that, his work with high-performing charter schools in Northeast Ohio demonstrated the power of collective leadership, as newly formed school communities rapidly outpaced county performance averages.
Kenan brings an eclectic perspective shaped by curriculum design, Pan-African Studies, spirituality, and Hip Hop culture – a combination that enables him to build bridges across diverse teams and viewpoints. Through partnerships with national education organizations, he has contributed to initiatives focused on educational excellence while remaining grounded in collaborative approaches to systemic improvement. He lives with his wife and three children in Akron, Ohio, situated on the original homelands of the Kaskaskia Territory.
