BIOGRAPHY

Maribel Sainez- is the Director of Family Engagement & Community Advocacy at Aspire Public Schools, a network of 36 public charter schools throughout California. Through this work, she partners with families, schools, and communities to activate and leverage their collective strength in service of all children.

Maribel joined Aspire Public Schools in 2015 as the Bay Area Regional Family & Community Engagement Manager. She has worked directly with school leaders across all of Aspire’s Bay Area schools to build systems and practices that leverage the diverse experiences of the families and communities served across Aspire’s Bay Area schools.

Prior to joining Aspire, Maribel supported Title 1 Family Engagement programming at a large urban school district in the Bay Area and managed family engagement programing efforts. She brings over 15 years of experience in serving students and families in public education.

Maribel was born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District. She is the daughter of immigrant parents, the youngest of four sisters and the first in her family to go to college. Maribel has a BA in Business and Visual Arts from California State University Monterey Bay. She also attended Universidad Technologico de Monterey in Queretaro Mexico, and did graduate work at San Francisco State University in Ethnic Studies. She lives and loves in Oakland with her family.
