BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Marisol Rocha is the superintendent of Vanguard Academy in the Rio Grande Valley area of Texas. Prior to Vanguard Academy, Dr. Rocha served as deputy superintendent for Edcouch-Elsa ISD for three years overseeing all aspects of the district. She previously served as director of state and federal programs and school improvement in Bastrop ISD following years as a campus administrator in Del Valle ISD, Austin ISD, and Waco ISD. Dr. Rocha graduated with her EdD through the Cooperative Superintendency Program at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Tarleton State University, after receiving her bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Rocha has served on panels for LONESTARP3 advocating for pathways to postsecondary opportunities for all students. She has also led, and then presented on, the implementation of HQIM to both Instruction Partners and the Texas Education Agency. She also worked with Emergent Tree to present on the importance of a strong mentor/mentee program in schools to recruit and retain teachers.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Rocha has dedicated her career to school improvement and the development of whole child education. In order to develop long lasting effects within a school system, she dedicates her time to campus and district leadership teams to build capacity for continuous growth by establishing a solid foundation for both organizational development and student achievement.
