BIOGRAPHY
As a proud 6th-generation Washingtonian, the District of Columbia, her people and issues of equity and social justice are in Maya Martin Cadogan's history, heart, and home.
Maya is the Executive Director of PAVE (Parents Amplifying Voices in Education) which she founded in April 2016 with an all-parent board of directors. PAVE is an organization where parent leaders across DC advocate for, organize around, and are policy experts in the education system and together push for great schools for every child in every ward and community.
Previously, Maya was an Entrepreneur in Residence with New Schools Venture Fund from November 2015 to April 2016. She also served as the Chief of Staff at Achievement Prep; the Director of Policy and Special Programs for Center City PCS; a Senior Program Manager for Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO); and an Assistant Director of Admissions for her alma mater, Dartmouth College. Maya received her bachelor’s in Sociology and History from Dartmouth and a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Maya is an alumnae of Education Pioneers and current member of EdLoC. She serves as the Board Chair of LEARN – DC and EmpowerK12, the Vice Chair of the PIE Network, and on the US Dept of Education’s Mid-Atlantic REL. Maya was a 2023 finalist for The Grio Heroes Award and a 2020 EXCEL Award Finalist from the Center for Non-Profit Advancement.
She lives in DC's Ward 4 with her husband, James Cadogan, and son, Xander.
