BIOGRAPHY

Raymond Weeden has been the executive director of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School since the fall of 2019. With over a decade of experience in Washington, DC's education, leadership, and policy sectors, Raymond began teaching math for seven years in Columbus Public Schools and The SEED Public Charter School. At SEED, he transitioned into leadership as a New Leaders Resident Principal.

Raymond served as principal of Chavez Parkside Middle School, where, under his four years of leadership, the school team drastically increased students' reading and math proficiency rates. He later became principal of DC Prep's Benning Elementary Campus, a top-performing, multi-site charter school in Washington, D.C. In his subsequent role as senior director of policy and community engagement at DC Prep, Raymond successfully organized community and school stakeholders to advocate for quality public education and student safety effectively.

Raymond is a dedicated community leader who serves on the educational boards of DC Special Education Cooperative, Statesman College Preparatory Academy for Boys Public Charter School, School Leader Lab, and Parents Amplifying Voices in Education (PAVE). He also co-founded Porchfest DC Southeast Edition and is a board member.
Raymond earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia. He also holds a Master of Science in Education Administration from Trinity University. Raymond and his family reside in Ward 7 of Washington, DC.
