BIOGRAPHY
Ted Preston was an independent consultant, focused on scaling and growing for- and nonprofit educational organizations. Prior to consulting, he served as General Manager and Senior Vice President at Care.com (NYSE: CRCM). An early investor and later a member of the management team, Preston helped scale operations, launch international services and integrate Care.com initial acquisitions.
Immediately prior to Care.com, Preston served as the first Chief Executive Officer of The Achievement Network, a nonprofit that supports public schools closing the achievement gap using data-driven instruction. Over a three and half year period, Preston and The Achievement Network team grew the organization from serving seven schools to over 260 schools while winning several awards for innovation, including the U.S. Department of Education's Investing in Innovation (i3) funding and The NewSchools Venture Fund's Organization of the Year.
Prior to The Achievement Network, Preston was a division Chief Executive Officer and group Chief Financial Officer for EF Education, an international educational services provider where he worked for eight years, and as founding Executive Director of Summerbridge/Breakthrough Cincinnati. Preston was also a founding board member and a former board chair of Edward Brooke Charter School, one of the top performing charter networks in Massachusetts.
Originally from Montreal, Preston was a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Business School and lived in Boston with his wife and three children.
